Healing starts with who we are and where we are at this point in time.
Throughout our lives, we develop wounds.
And no, I’m not referring to physical wounds. Such as; falling off a bike or bumping your head.
(Although those also aren’t very fun!)
I’m talking about the invisible wounds within us. These can be caused by experiences in our childhood. We have perceived these events as negative and hurtful. These experiences have shaped how we define ourselves and narrate our lives.
One very common wound is shame.
We’ve all felt some degree of shame. Often the feeling sticks with us for a long time due to how it has wounded us. We feel worthless.
When we feel shame, our brain tries to trick us into thinking we are invalid and insignificant.
We remember how we’re treated by others.
If there is someone in your life who has made you feel ashamed, you’ll remember it.
In the same way, you’ll remember those who have been kind and loving to you.
The world needs more gentleness and love. Be that person who spreads love and compassion. Seek out these qualities in those you surround yourself with.
Next, watch this video as I describe my experience with shame ❤️
With every wound, there is an equal and opposite healing field.
The opposite of shame is honor.
Work on honoring yourself by forgiving, listening to your body, and commit to showing yourself compassion wherever you can.
