Empath (noun): “A person who has a particular tendency or ability to enter into or psychologically identify with the emotions, thoughts, or attitudes of others.”
Have you ever been told growing up, “You’re too sensitive?”
If so, you may be an empath just like me.
Trust me, I know the feeling of being called overly sensitive. It can make us want to shut off the parts of ourselves which feel big emotions and push down our feelings rather than letting them out freely.
However, if we’re hiding our feelings, are we truly being our authentic selves?
The answer is no.
Rather than running from our sensitivities, let’s choose to embrace them.
How do you do this?
Firstly, just know and trust you are okay just the way you are. Being sensitive does NOT make you weird or unusual.
Being sensitive is a gift. It’s important to love and accept all things which make us each unique. There will never be another person exactly like you.
We are often the first ones our friends call when they need emotional support and empaths also tend to have a great sense of intuition.
And I think that’s beautiful.
Take a look at this video as I shed light on why empathy is indeed your superpower rather than something you should run from. Embrace and love yourself, even the parts of you that make you different from others ❤️
